With Principal William R. Edwards as lead design architect, licensed to practice architecture for the past twenty-three years, and bringing to the drawing board more than thirty years of dedicated professional design experience, the Planet Design team has proudly played an integral role in the success of a wide range of project types on a local, regional and international basis.
PLANET DESIGN specializes in the creation of unique and beautiful Custom Homes and Luxury Estates, as well as mixed-use Retail / Commercial Developments, Boutique Hotels, Banks, Corporate Office Headquarters, Destination Resorts, Spas and Salons as well as many other project types.
Principal Architect Bill Edwards comes from an East Coast, Washington D.C. area upbringing, and was blessed at a very early age with a love of Architecture. With local design classes in both middle and high school, together with a two-year apprenticeship as a teen working for the president of the Potomac Valley Chapter of A.I.A. and with an ivy-league college education in Architecture, Bill was equipped early in his youth to accomplish the successful design and implementation of many noteworthy regional Residential, Commercial, Institutional and Hospitality projects. His childhood home, work and travels afforded him a deep respect and appreciation for historic architectural preservation and restoration.
After college, Bill fulfilled his dream of moving to California where his Dad was well known for his work on screen and stage, and his aunt Bonnie had owned the Beverly Hills Hotel for more than three decades. Bill then apprenticed with some of the leading So-Cal architectural firms and became well-versed in West Coast and Regional Design with projects such as Luxury Coastal ‘California Rivera’ homes, Master Planning of Theme and Resort developments, major Restaurant Chains, Financial Institutions and Recreational / Entertainment venues.
After seven years of valuable experience in apprenticeship, it was time for Bill to venture out on his own, and to utilize his years of education and skills in the lead position of his own firm; hence Planet Design Architecture and Planning was ultimately founded. Now approaching 20 years young, the Planet Design team, - with Bill as the primary point of Client contact for each and every project, is pleased to have achieved the #1 Architectural Design award – 2009 for their local City community, as well as numerous regional and national awards and publications over the years.
Based in Corona del Mar / Newport Beach, CA, the Planet Design team has earned wide recognition for providing comprehensive Architectural, Planning and Interior Design services on a timely and cost – effective basis to well-respected Clientele, primarily on a repeat business and referral basis.
